What kind of game is this?
A text-first, browser-based grinding RPG. You fight round-by-round by pressing Attack/Cast; each press resolves a full combat round instantly. Over many fights you level, gear up, and tackle harder content. See Getting Started.
There are no classes — so how do I make a "mage" or a "fighter"?
You pick a race (which sets your stat/mastery profile) and then become your build through stat choices at level-up, committed masteries, and gear. STR+weapons = fighter; NTL+spells = mage. See the Build Guide.
Which race should I pick first?
Aelderkin if you want maximum flexibility; otherwise pick by the masteries you want: Bramblyn/Mossgrim (melee/tank), Thistrel (bows), Glimmane (elements), Veilborn (drain/heal). Races.
Why do I do almost no damage to some monsters?
Because of the damage curve: 1.2^(yourClass − enemyEffectiveAC). If
the enemy's AC is well above your WC/SC, your damage is divided heavily. Fight near
your tier and raise your Item Class. Monsters.
How do I stop dying / losing my gold?
Bank your gold (banked gold is safe; carried gold is 100% lost on death), equip a heal/Drain or Ruby/Bloodrock gem for sustain, fight in your tier, and consider the Gravedigger's Token accessory.
What's the fastest way to level?
Manual kills (+25% vs idle) on the highest tier you can safely clear, with a Wisplight Charm, Sunstone gems, and Bonus Time up. Hunt XP specials (Brute/Veteran/Villain) once you out-class them. Leveling & XP.
What's the best way to farm gold / loot?
Gold: Merchant/Hero specials, purses, Diamond gems, the Tithe-Coin accessory. Loot: King specials (×4 drops) in Gallowfen Deep (×1.5), wearing Jasper. Economy · Drops & Bonus Time.
How do I train Armour and Doublehit mastery?
You can't by one-shotting things. Armour trains by being hit; Doublehit by long fights. Find tanky, low-power mobs — the Mossback Warrens or a Master special — and soak hits with a heal slot. Masteries.
When should I rank up?
The instant you hit a rank's level requirement — the stat bonus only applies to future level-ups, so waiting wastes points. First rank is at level 150.
When can I join a clan?
Join at level 100, found at level 300. See Clans & Kingdoms.
Do I have to PvP?
No. PvP only happens in PK zones (Lanternwatch Cross, The Hollow Court). Stay out of them and you'll never be attacked; all progression is achievable in PvE. PvP.
What happens if I leave the game running?
Idle combat keeps fighting your set target (~1 round/2s), and you get a capped catch-up (~5 min) when you reconnect. Set a safe target and sustain first.
Are gems worth the risk to remove?
Disenchanting costs 100,000g and has a 30% chance to lose the gem and 30% to lose the item — so only do it when necessary. Plan sockets before you commit pricey gems. Gems & Enchanting.
What are shadow and mythic items?
Shadows drop from kills (always 2 sockets, easier to equip) and mirror your equipped slots. Mythics are shadows upgraded at a Temple with a tier-scaling passive — the endgame gear path. Shadow & Mythic Items.
Is there a level cap?
No. The XP curve keeps climbing forever; ranks top out at Legend (level 5000) in the launch ladder.
Are these numbers exact for my server?
They're the launch defaults. Admins can retune almost everything (balance constants, drop rates, costs) live, so treat specific figures as "how it ships."
