Weapons & Spells
Grinweld ships ten gear lines — five weapon types and five spell types — each running from IC 0 to IC 20 (the seed uses the steps 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20). Higher IC means higher Weapon/Spell Class and a higher equip requirement. Within a line, naming climbs from humble hedge-gear to named artifacts of the Thornmere.
For how these numbers turn into damage, see Combat. For which to use, see Masteries (commit to your types!) and Build Guide.

Starting gear & where to buy
- Every new character starts with one IC-0 Sword (Rustleaf Blade) and one IC-0 Fire spell (Emberkiss).
- Shops stock IC bands by zone: Thornmere Verge IC 0–3 → Lanternwatch Cross IC 3–9 → The Sunken Stairs IC 7–13 → Gallowfen Deep IC 11–20. See The World and Economy.
- Prices follow
price(IC) = 50 × IC^2.2, so each tier costs disproportionately more.
Choosing your lines
- Commit to a type per slot so its mastery climbs to its cap — switching types resets your effective accuracy/crit.
- Pair damage with sustain: most builds run their main damage type plus a Drain or Arcane spell.
- Match your race's caps: a Bow build wants Thistrel; triple-element wants Glimmane; Drain wants Veilborn; Axe wants Bramblyn.
