Social & Chat

Grinweld is a multiplayer world, not just a solo grinder. Chat, Top Lists, alignment, buddies, and moderation tie players together at the crossroads.

Chat channels

Chat is available from level 1 by default and includes several channels:

Channel Use
Global the whole server
Sales trade callouts (pairs with the Trading Post)
Roleplay in-character talk
Clan / Race your clan — prefix /r to talk to your race instead
Announce server announcements (expire after ~10 days)
DM direct messages to a player

Notes: messages cap at ~500 characters, a profanity filter is on by default, and each channel keeps a recent backlog (~60 messages). Chat is delivered live.

Two flavor slash commands ship by default: /rules (house rules of the Verge) and /motd (the message of the day — "Welcome to the Thornmere. Mind the briars, bank your gold, and never trust a lantern that follows you.").

Names

  • You begin with a first name.
  • Last names unlock at level 50 — a small prestige marker that you've put in the hours.

Top Lists

Leaderboards celebrate the best in each category — level, gold, PKs, clan power, quests, and per-race boards. A target to chase and a way to scout rivals before PvP.

Alignment (good ↔ evil)

A scalar that shifts with your actions:

  • Killing Saint specials moves you toward good (−1); Undead moves you toward evil (+1).
  • Fighting in aligned zones shifts you (e.g., the evil Hollow Court pushes you evil per kill).
  • PK behavior also moves your alignment.

At launch alignment is mostly cosmetic + toplists — a reputation/title system — but it colors how the world sees you and feeds dedicated leaderboards.

Buddies & locating

  • Buddy list — keep track of friends and rivals.
  • Player locating — a Magic Shop service (for a fee) tells you where a player is — useful for meeting up or for hunting in PK zones.

Moderation

A light moderation toolkit keeps the crossroads civil:

  • Mute — silences a player's chat.
  • Jail — sends a player to the Briar Stocks, where drops are off and rewards are quartered until released.

Play fair: the house rules (/rules) ask for civility, no real-world trades, and warn that cheaters meet the jail.
